My Legends Regatta has just finished.
All boats, skippers and crew had a testing time getting to the island with a strong westerly developing into a 35knot plus blast for the finish. Hence, boats coming in later were directed to finish at Coralie Bay to avoid the lumpy crossing from Opito Bay to the island.
The westerly blew most of the weekend and the fleet gathered at Coralie Bay for the Saturday prizegiving after another boisterous race around the island.
The change to hold the Sunday race earlier resulted in more boats competing and attending the prize giving in the cove.
The final leg home to Tauranga provided the best sailing of the weekend with a moderate North Westerly allowing some boats to fly spinnakers to whole way.
