Winter Series is here!

The weekend of the opening races was glorious, if not a bit too benign for the two handed race.

We have been blessed with the most amazing autumn conditions and it is a pity that we have not been able to make the most of them.  That ended last weekend, when conditions were perfect and a large fleet of boats turned out for both the Two Handed and Open Series’.

With both races being mass start there was a lot of action early and not a few boats out of practice meaning some had to start twice!

Crew work was a bit rusty at times from what was seen amongst the fleet, but one never knows  what is the real story, it being handicapping after all.

It was good to see Formula one out in the two handed race – even though conditions were light 52ft of boat is a handful at any time.

With the need to maintain social distancing still in force, there was no clubroom prize giving but with Zoom and the VHF a number of the usual Mount Yacht Club rums and wines were handed out by random draw.

The next race is the open series and start times will be posted by Thursday.

See you on the water.
