And now for something completely different.
March 23rd will see the inaugural Mount Maunganui Yacht Club Island Beach Cricket challenge.
The concept is a simple one – to celebrate the especially low tide on Saturday March 23 the stumps will go down on the new bank in the middle of the harbour that the dredging has courteously created. Two sides will be drawn to oppose each side of low – The Ebbs v The Floods.
Refreshments and some sort of trophy will be awarded at the prize giving to be held at Pilot bay once stumps are drawn.
We are hoping for a fun day out with boats intentionally mooring at the pesky bank for a change. Start time is 1300 (low tide is 1401 – 0.1m).
